A spiritual awakening is a transformative experience that involves a shift in consciousness and a deeper understanding of oneself and the world. These 21 signs of a spiritual awakening a process of awakening to a higher level of awareness, often leading to profound changes in beliefs, values, and behaviors.
Spiritual awakening is a necessary part of life. In fact everything is pointing us there. Even depression, anxiety and a feeling of overwhelm can be the start of a spiritual awakening. You see, the brain will not get you there. You cannot intellectually or analytically think your way through life successfully. IQ is not enough. Sooner or later you need EQ. You will need feelings and emotions and in other words you will need to start experiencing forms of love. Starting with self love the journey towards a spiritual consciousness evolves. We go from being part of the problem to the solution. We go from feeling trapped and powerless to authentic power and a new sense of freedom. This is the spiritual journey.

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience we are spiritual beings having a human experience. We are going from monkey mind, from acting like monkeys to higher consciousness where we care, share and understand we are part of Gods creation and we fit right in. Naturally so. When this happens there is nothing left to push against – the truth sets us free. I do not believe or have I ever met an atheist in my life. I have met hundreds of people who have averse feelings to God and that’s still just a part of their journey of awakening. All paths lead to God. But only all of them!
Even the Richard Dawkins movement against the case for God is still all about God! There is no way to escape the Source. Although you’re welcome to try and that’s what we do at first. We avoid, deny, rationalise, and with great false pride think we know the workings of the Universe. Then one day, that all comes crashing down. The veil of ignorance is slowly or instantly lifted, and then you come face to face with who you really are. When you do there is no turning back and you soon start staring into the face of truth, awe and wonder like you cannot imagine which reminds me of one of my favourite quotes from the book of Jeremiah 33:3.
‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish. ‘

The 4 Stages of Life and Spiritual Awakening
First, let us consider the first 4 stages of spiritual awakening. Our lives are fleeting, a mere flicker in the grand cosmic scheme. We spend a fraction of our existence in our prime, clouded by the ignorance of youth and the decline of age. Given this brevity, why do we bother? Why strive, why create, why leave a mark? Is there any real significance to our existence, or are we simply cosmic accidents, multiplying and consuming without purpose?
Yet, there’s a strange order within this chaos. Patterns emerge: birth, growth, decline, death. We all follow a similar trajectory, each stage offering unique lessons and opportunities for spiritual growth. While some may remain trapped in ego-driven survival, others embrace a more conscious and compassionate approach to life. It’s a delicate balance between holding on to what matters and letting go of what no longer serves us.
If we can traverse the dark night and allow our emotions to let us radically level up we eventually have a ‘big reveal’ or an awakening experience that shifts us towards our spiritual stage of human development. We find what we call our Sacred Selves.
